Today is my last day of work. As of this afternoon (and most likely until after we move next summer), I will be gainfully unemployed (or as Stu prefers to put it, a kept woman ;)

I want to say thank you for all the support and encouragement everyone has given me over the past few months. I think I can safely say I have the best group of friends and family in the world - as well as the most interesting! ;)

Monday I begin my new life. And although I have plans and ideas, I really dont know what the future will bring. But I have faith. Faith in life, faith in my imagination and faith in myself.

And after all, all it takes is faith and trust and a little bit of pixie dust ;)

Thanks again everyone. May we all live to see our dreams come true.

;)

When I was a Boy Scout, we played a game when new scouts joined the troop. We lined up chairs in a pattern, creating an obstacle course through which the new scouts, blindfolded, were supposed to maneuver. The scoutmaster gave them a few moments to study the pattern before our adventure began. But as soon as the victims were blindfolded, the rest of us quietly removed the chairs.

I think life is like this game. Perhaps we spend our lives avoiding obstacles we have created for ourselves and in reality exist only in our minds. We're afraid to apply for that job, take violin lessons, learn a foreign language, call an old friend, write our Congressman--whatever it is that we would really like to do but don't because of perceived obstacles.

Don't avoid any chairs until you run smack into one. And if you do, at least you'll have a place to sit down.

One can create mildly. One can live at a low flame. Most people do. We're afraid to look foolish, or feel too extravagantly, or make a mistake, or risk unnecessary pain….For some, life is an exercise in moderation. The best china is saved for special occasions and thus rarely enjoyed. One fears intensity. But, given something like death, what does it matter if one looks foolish now and then, or tries too hard, or cares too deeply? ~ Diane Ackerman, Deep Play
