3/2/08 Happy Birthday Byron!

The Ponderings staff (me) would like to extend my heartiest best wishes to my friend Byron on his 40th birthday (applause, applause)!

Although many of you do not know Byron directly, you do indirectly, as Byron is, in effect, the father of Ponderings, having coined the phrase. Many years ago, during our Wednesday philosophical group, Byron would lie down on the floor in my apartment and stare up at the ceiling. When asked what he was doing, he said (historical drum roll here) that he was pondering.

One year as a birthday gift, our friend Joe (another Wednesday regular) made Byron a video. It consisted of (in addition to Joe’s hilarious previews) of an hour of video of – you guessed it – my apartment ceiling. I must admit it was quite relaxing. I think Byron was onto something with his pondering – perhaps we would all benefit from a little lying on the floor and gazing at the ceiling….

Please join me in congratulating Byron on his 40th by leaving your best wishes on the blog. You don’t have to know him personally – for you know him each day when the ponderings arrive in your inbox. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BYRON!!!!

My husband is French; he knows Donna only through "Ponderings". I needed to explain to him what "ponderings" are.....I did not, at the time, realise I had the root description wrong. It would have been much more fun to tell him that it means lying on the floor in the middle of a room and staring at the ceiling; preface for a potential hit video on You Tube (or as we say in this family, Boo Tube)
Happy Birthday Byron - I shall Ponder on your behalf today when I need a break!

Happy 40th and 1 day Byron: I am on island time in Panama pondering, which is why I am late with this greeting! Traveling makes time slow down so if you start now you can stay young for a very long time. My sister Sue and I pondered this and decided it was because time is measured unknowingly by humans in increments of new experiences. Traveling to new places increases the number of new experiences and thus expands time. Staying at home is more routine so time there is brief.
Speaking of brief's - the man next door on the balcony is in his mini briefs. This may be a new experience to explore . . .
Feliz Cumpleanos Byron!
